Machinery Movers working with Tranzcarr Heavy Haulage was awarded the transportation contract for Meridian Energy’s Wind Farm at Makara west of Wellington, known as Project ‘West Wind’. A critical component of the contract was the movement of two transformers from the Port of Wellington, each with a weight approaching 100 tonnes. For this operation the Machinery Movers 200 tonne ‘lift-n-lock’ Hydraulic Gantry system was erected to transfer the load at the port, and again at the site entry point plus the final positioning for installation.
